Karen & Gil Pedersen

The Pedersens are a father and daughter team of life long beekeepers from Saskatchewan. They are best known for their excellence in Queen production along with successful overwintering developments. They will be presenting on three major topics: 1. Queens, 2. Overwintering 3. Spring Management. The day will begin with the “Pedersen Story”- a fascinating journey from hobby to commercial beekeeping.

Axel Krause

Axel is a trained biologist and teacher who presently works for the Ministry of Agriculture as a bee inspector. He will be presenting on two major topics: 1. Identifying virus and bacterial disease in honey bees 2. New rules for antibiotic use by beekeepers.

 ***Beekeepers will have an opportunity for asking questions, interaction with attending beekeepers and a one time signup for the unique, subsidized Iotron project.***
